I carry of the interest in your component which I installed but which regrettably did not work in local.

After a detailed reading of your forum, I contacted our host (infomaniak.ch) concerning libraries ffmpeg and other. It is the problem ! The necessary resources for the video encoding are not adapted to an hosting of mutualized type. Indeed, the encoding of videos is greedy in resources and would slow down the performances of the other sites accommodated on the same mutualized server. There is also a problem of license with mplayer... I called another host (bluewin.ch), more important, the same answer. And the advice is to find a dedicated server.

But which one??? Can you advise us a dedicated server which is not too expensive

With remote I can imagine Vimeo or YouTube But the problem it is because it is necessary to wait 24 hours before being able to display the upload video.

Maybe MobileMe of Apple can be a good solution.

Other question that I am thinking about is: does the "remote" offer so much flexibility (with the presentation display of the galeries and other options which you propose) then "local"

Yes, deal with videos do need a lot of resources, especially Hd videos.

For JVD, it was first designed for users with dedicated server.
However, we found that lots of users are with shared hosting, then "fetch link only" was introduced in version 0.3.

For upcoming version 1.1, we have improved admin import feature. Admin can import video from external server manually.
This will be useful for users who has lots of videos sitting at amazon service or other conversion service company.

But then, the best choice is to have dedicated server or VPS hosting plan. they will get most from JVD.
If you have difficulty installing the converter, we are going to introduce converter installation service, just talk to Professional Service via Support center....

In term of "remote", you will lose the feature to output HD quality video, low quality thumbnail from some sites and some videos cannot be playback using local player for some sites. for all modules, plugins and etc...they will be the same as local.

lots of american companies offer ffmpeg hosting:
cirtex, vexxhost. I'm using the shared ffmpeg hosting from vexxhost, they have great special offers, good support and all requirements to run a tube website.
Shared hosting is maybe not good, if your content is to heavy, but great for the beginners or for testing the tube components. There is always possibility to upgrade to VPS or DS.
