I uploaded a video from youtube, but when I go to view the video, I do not see any player. In IE8, I get a mootool error at the bottom.

jvideodirect uses standard joomla mootool api. joomla 1.5 is using mootool 1.11.
With a little googling, IE8 happens to read mootool 1.11 with errors.
if we switch to mootool 1.2 before joomla, it may causes problem when joomla releases version with mootool 1.2 . Let see what we can do...

further, can you please post the youtube video link, so that i can try it out?

If you look at it with IE8, you will see the error message at the bottom.

In admin, I set the VIDEO NEED APPROVAL to NO, and the video still show pending.

I do not see any thumbnails also, I have set the directories jMediaDirect/videos/pics/small , jMediaDirect/videos/pics/samll2 and jMediaDirect/videos/pics/medium to 777, and I still do not see any images being uploaded.

The activity stream in Jomsocial is not updated when I add a video also, and I enabled the jomsocial plugin

I have tested your youtube link in a basic hosting. It works.

It is permission problem, not in jMediaDirect folder, but "buffer" or "temp" or "pics" folder.

We have leave off Activity Stream trigger for video fetch event, will add it back in next version.
