Hi there, sorry for the extensive questions, but I just came across JVideo and am hoping that it's the perfect fit.

I am working on a project for a client right now and am really hoping that I've found a solution for a request they have.

The site they want is video-based... but they don't want to give users the ability to upload videos themselves...

1. Can public front-end upload be turned off and only have video upload from Admin?? Or perhaps only a specific user group can upload via frontend??

2. My second question revolves around hosting files on a remote server. right now we have all video / audio files on a remote server (Amazon Web Services)... Is there anything I should know about using JVideoDirect with a remote server??

3. If the videos are already in .flv or .mp4 format prior to uploading, can we disable the converter?

4. This might be a dumb question, but since the JW player is being used, can JVideoDirect be used for audio??? (My client has an audio section on the site as well...)

5. They will be using AdAgency to place banner ads on their site. AdAgency embeds adds in a module position... meaning that there must be an itemid associated with a specific video in order for the module to appear on that page. Can I create links to individual videos?

Thanks so much! I'm really looking forward to being a customer!

Just a quick reply to your questions.

1. yes, the only user upload interface is from "Upload" menu, change it's access level to "special".

2. Yes, upcoming version has the ability to import and playback video from remote server, but physical locate of video file must be provided.

3. Yes, you can switch to "fetch only" mode. You can also import those videos in auto mode (converter need to be in place) or manual mode.

4. No, JVD doesn't handle mp3 files.

5. I am not sure about this one, you will need to give it a try. In terms of modules position, any modules can be placed in JVD component, we have custom position within component page

Thanks for all the answers!

In respect to answer #2. (2. Yes, upcoming version has the ability to import and playback video from remote server, but physical locate of video file must be provided.)

Just curious as to when the upcoming version will be released. I have a deadline to launch a video-based website early November...

My clients have a ton of files on a remote server and I'd love to get in there and start adding them in..

Thanks!

We are targeted to release ver 1.1 rc1 on or before early nov. In the mean time you can use the excel file in the package for "server upload(manual)". Start filling up the excel file, it's will be in a very similar format.

To make sure it works for you when it released, is it possible for you to provide us a link to one of your remote server video file? we can include it in the test. Please send it through "contact us".
