Installation of version 0.2 went smoothly.
Paths set to the same as hwdVideoShare (I have this installed previously and is working)

Testing conversion with the included .mov file gives this message:-

SD quality flv has been converted and error occurred. This is abnormal.

Looking at the details does not tell anything. The file test-SD.flv exists and seems to play in a stand-alone flv player.

So what's wrong and what is the solution?

I had this weird scenario before.
If you have hwdvideoshare installed before and working, it should work fine with jvideodirect. They had similar conversion mechanism except that jvideodirect has an extra security layer.

It's successfully converted the file but it just doesn't save it.
It's not the conversion that causes this problem.

One of the jvd feature that covered my eye.
i choose mencoder as priority convertor. If mencoder failed, jvd will use ffmpeg as backup convertor and vice versa.

I have the same situation as yours, I thought that mencoder has failed so it goes to ffmpeg. My solution is to reinstall mencoder, everything goes ok afterward.
I didn't realize that ffmpeg is the real problem.

I guess you have ffmpeg switched as priorty convertor, right.
here is the fix...

just replace /joomlaRoot/components/com_jvideodirect/tools/transformer/convertIt.php
from the new package

p.s. mencoder and ffmpeg both are excellent encoders. To choose between the two, we prefer mencoder if you plan to encode HD/HQ videos. Make sure you have x264 support in mencoder.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean ... that file is already in there. What do I replace the file with?

Forgot to tell you, actually I have memcoder set as priority.

I tried changing the settings to memcoder as priority and saved everything again but still the same result. It says :-

Note: Meta information injection process cannot be started.
Note: Image thumbnail generation process cannot be started.

Note: Database update process cannot be started.
No database update for Tester.

1. download the package again as i have updated it before my previous reply.
2. replace convertIt.php with the one in the package.
3. check your mencoder path setting in jvd admin. (jvd will try and detect it, but it might be wrong. If you have shell access, try "which mencoder", it will show you the path of mencoder. Double check with the setting.
