When you go to the Userpanel and view "My Channels", the system indicates each channel as well as the total number of channel members.
If you click on the number of members, you can see the detail of exactly which members are subscribed to the channel (or in thats the theory anyway)

What actually happens is that the detailed member list always shows 0 subscribers.
This is clearly highlighted in the attached image.
